One code - the whole headstamp inscription is one code

Two codes - the top and the bottom one are separate codes

What do you have to select to search for the this headstamp?

Use the numbers clockwise:
Code 1 = NATO symbol
Code 2 = IVI
Code 3 = 72

It does not matter which code number you use.
Code 8 = NATO symbol
Code 1 = 72
Code 5 = IVI

Use the numbers counter clockwise:
Code 1 = NATO symbol

Code 2 = 72
Code 3 = IVI

Does it matter in which direction the codes are written on a headstamp?

It does matter. It can make a difference. But CartWinPro will find headstamps independent from the orientation.
It does not matter. Orientation is not an issue on headstamps

Can I enter parts of the code only or do I have to enter the complete code?

I have to enter the complete code

I can enter one code only

I can enter the first few letters of a code and leave the rest open as wildcard

I have to enter the complete code if I select "exactly" (CaartWinPro 4 only)

I can enter any part in the middle of the code
